Porsche Macan Revealed
Porsche have officially unveiled a new Macan model at the Beijing Motor Show. The model was believed to be the four cylinder petrol engined entry level model that is due to go on sale early next year.
The new Macan model will be the first Porsche model to use the four cylinder engine since the 968 model. However, a number of brands under the Volkswagen group use the four cylinder engine, including the likes of Audi, Skoda and Seat.
It is believed that the engine fitted in the Macan model will be the 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder engine that can be found in the Volkswagen Golf GTI. That engine in particular has the ability to produce 335bhp.
Porsche released a number of figures along with the Macan model which includes the 0-62mph time. The Macan model has the ability to reach the 0-62mph in a time of just 6.9 seconds and a top speed of 139mph.
The four cylinder Macan model has an initial market place of the Asian markets with the Chinese car market being the primary market. However, the model is believed to be making its way to the UK car market.
Porsche to move further into SUV market
Last year, the Porsche brand announced that they would be making further steps towards becoming a luxury car manufacturer rather than being a premium sports car manufacturer. Volkswagen along with Porsche insist that sales in the SUV car market and the crossover car market have a higher rate of market share and a higher profitability.
The new Macan model is set to be the next addition by Porsche into the SUV market. Currently, the Chinese car market appears to be the best selling car market for the Volkswagen Group and new models such as the Porsche Macan will have been specifically designed for the Chinese car market.
